14. New England Patriots: Trade for Tamba Hali

Like mentioned before, the Patriots are in desperate need of defensive help. Aside from the struggles in the secondary, pass rusher is another pertinent need. They’ve been decimated at the position this season due to injuries and that area of the defense has to improve. Heading into the trade deadline it feels like the perfect time for the Patriots to acquire a veteran and Tambi Hali is one of the first names that come to mind.

The Patriots need help at pass rusher, but not necessarily right away. They’re cruising through the regular season with relative ease, even with the early struggles. Bill Belichick knows exactly what he’s doing. This team is setting themselves up for another deep postseason run and Hali could be a major help.

Hali, the Kansas City Chief great, has been on the PUP list for the first start of the season. The good news is he’s expected to return within the next few weeks. At 33, Hali is getting towards the last leg of his career, but can still get you six to seven sacks on the season. He’s experienced and would be great to have come the postseason. At the very least, he’s a veteran mentor to the young talent the Patriots have at the position.

Given the Chiefs’ success without Hali so far this season, the asking price wouldn’t be too high. We know nothing less of a Super Bowl is a disappointment for this team they’re going to need more help to repeat this season.
