7. Los Angeles Chargers: Trade for Eric Reid

The Chargers really haven’t been the same in the secondary since letting Eric Weddle go two years ago. And as great as Casey Heyward has played at corner, there’s still a significant hole left at the safety position. The Chargers are an above average defense right now and would be even better if they traded for safety Eric Reid ahead of the trade deadline.

At 0-7, the San Francisco 49ers should be selling all that they can. They still have plenty of valuable assets that can bring in young talent and draft picks. Eric Reid is one of those players. the fifth-year safety has been a rock in the Niners’ secondary but hasn’t had much help around him. It’s been the same this season with all of the struggles the team has taken on.

After starting off the season 0-4, it looked like the Chargers might have been sellers at the deadline, but they’ve quietly won three straight and are creeping into the playoff mix. The front seven of the defense has been getting the job done and now it’s time to add some talent to the secondary.

Reid is another one of those players who is entering the final year of his contract. The Niners expect him to leave anyway and with no hopes of the playoffs, it’s better to start the rebuild sooner than later with this one.
