NFL trade deadline: One move every team should make

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Trade for Vontae Davis
Someone please help the Buccaneers stop the pass this season. After being talked about as a surprise contender before the start of the season, the Bucs have had their struggles. They’re losers of three straight and are giving up close to 300 passing yards a game. That’s certainly not a recipe for success and this secondary is just not getting it done. The Bucs need some help and Vontae Davis could provide that.
It’s been a great stint for Davis and the Colts but the two are going to go their separate ways next season, there’s no doubt about it. With the Colts out of playoff contention this season, there’s no optimism for Davis to want to stay. If anything the Colts could be in rebuilding mode the next few years. Instead of just letting him walk for nothing, Jm Irsay should be on the phone fielding calls.
The Colts need help in many more positions than just cornerback. They’re decimated and have one of the worst rosters even when Andrew Luck his healthy. They’ve neglected to get him help and trading Davis could bring in some much-needed assets.
For the Bucs, Davis could pair with Vernon Hargreaves on the outside. That’s a decent duo and an upgrade over the aging Brent Grimes. Scoring points haven’t been a problem for the Bucs but stopping them has. Davis doesn’t fix everything, but he plugs a big hole nonetheless.
