Washington Redskins

NFC East, (3-4)

Week 8 Result: Lost 33-19 to Dallas.

Washington has so far controlled its own fate, and things couldn’t have gone worse. Already the Redskins have lost three divisional games, with a clean sweep coming at the hands of the Eagles. The likelihood of that tiebreaker being a factor is slim, but a loss on Sunday to the Cowboys was another step in the wrong direction.

It’s not that Washington is a world beater (it’s not), but there’s enough talent on the team to warrant more competitiveness than what we’re seeing. Kirk Cousins may or may not have one foot out the door, but that shouldn’t stop the offense from clicking more often than it is. The next three games will be telltale for how the story of this season will be written in Washington. A road win against Seattle would instantly change perceptions about the Skins, as would wins over the Vikings and Saints. That’s three wins in a row against playoff caliber teams — a tall order to say the least. But if Washington is going to rise from the dead then there’s no better what to make it happen then to dominate the stretch that lies ahead.

We’re about to find out real quick whether Washington is worthy of the buzz it garnered entering the season.
