2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets get their quarterback in the first round
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals put one in the win column on Sunday, as they escaped with a one-point victory against the Indianapolis Colts. While the win was nice, this team has seriously under-achieved this season, and there may be changes prior to next offseason. Head coach Marvin Lewis may be on borrowed time, and with the coach being on the hot seat, we see no reason why this team is going to turn this thing around to save his job.
Quarterback Andy Dalton is having an up and down season, but he has been a Pro Bowl player as recent as last season. A.J. Green is still one of the best wideouts in the NFL and was supposed to be even better with 2017 first rounder John Ross in the fold. Ross has yet to get healthy, and while health issues were a concern coming into the draft, it is hard to have expected his lack of production this season.
Next April, it is possible the Bengals go out and get another wide receiver, as they could grab an elite one this early in round one. Calvin Ridley of Alabama has played on some incredible teams with the Crimson Tide and just may win another national title this season. He would be a perfect complement to Green, and as we have seen elsewhere in the league, you can never have too much talent at the wide receiver position in today’s NFL.
