Malik Jefferson

Linebacker, Texas

Don’t look now, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are back, and should make another run towards the AFC Championship Game when it comes time for the playoffs. 2017 draft pick JuJu Smith-Schuster is turning into a star from his wideout position, and T.J. Watt has made the defense younger, and better. Ben Roethlisberger has shook off his early season woes to get back to form, making this a dangerous team as we hit the midway point of the season.

While the defense has gotten younger, and better, they still need some help on that side of the ball. With the first round pick in 2018, the Steelers should look to bring in Malik Jefferson to complement Watt at linebacker. Jefferson is a strong linebacker for the University of Texas, who has the uncanny ability to play sideline to sideline from his middle linebacker position.

The good Steelers teams are built around their defense, and it showed they were lacking when the Patriots trounced them in the AFC title game last season. The unit has proven it can beat good teams even on the road, like they did against the Kansas City Chiefs a few weeks back. Big Ben will likely finish out his contract if the defense is improved, and just may add one more title before riding off into the sunset.
