NBA Award Watch: Curry, Griffin and Oladipo headline the honors
Best Dunk — Blake Griffin
Can we really have a Best Dunk award and not give one of these to Blake Griffin? One of the best in-game dunkers that the NBA has ever seen, Griffin continues to posterize opponents by throwing the ball down as hard as he possibly can.
Last Tuesday, the Clippers hosted the Jazz, which meant Defensive Player of the Year runner-up Rudy Gobert would be protecting the rim. He’s a cool 7-foot-1, so opponents should have no business dunking on him.
But Blake Griffin went straight down Rodeo Drive and threw this down on Gobert, meaning it deserves the Best Dunk award for this week.
Griffin has had thunderous dunks in his career, but this definitely might be one of the best, given who he slammed the ball over. I’m sure No. 32 has a poster of this in his Los Angeles house, while Gobert’s trying to erase it from his memory.
Rim meet Blake Griffin. Blake Griffin meet rim. That’s a relationship that’s deserving of this award.
