5 bold Premier League predictions: Arsenal beat Manchester City, Burnley win
2. Arsenal beat Manchester City
The biggest game of the weekend is undoubtedly Sunday’s matchup between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s City are probably the most in-form side in Europe right now, as they showed again with an impressive 4-2 victory over Napoli in Naples on Wednesday.
The Citizens have now won their last 14 matches and have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. Enter Arsene Wenger. The Gunners have endured some early-season struggles, but they’ve won their last two league matches and sit top of their Europa League group.
City will have an advantage, as Arsenal will have had only two days rest before the match because of their Europa League match against Red Star Belgrade. City certainly don’t need any help right now, but the Gunners have a knack for turning up for big games.
Wenger knows how to beat teams that like to pass the ball and he’s shown this against a Pep Guardiola side in the past. It was Arsenal who masterfully beat Guardiola’s Barcelona back in 2010 and Wenger will be hoping for a similar performance on Sunday.
The game is certain to be laden with goals and it could be a moment of magic that wins the game for either side. Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil could turn out to be the game winner and we think the Gunners will hand Manchester City their first defeat of the season.
