Rams at Giants: Preview, prediction, odds and pick
We’re getting ready to see the Los Angeles Rams battle the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. Which team will prevail in this contest?
It’s one of the more astounding turnarounds from a season ago. In both 2015 and ’16, no team in the NFL gained fewer total yards per game than the Los Angeles Rams. Last year, the club totaled a league-low 224 points and the offense reached the end zone only 23 times.
With new head coach Sean McVay calling the shots, the 5-2 Rams have already topped the team’s win total (4) from a year ago. The club has already totaled 222 points and 17 offensive touchdowns in seven contests. Can quarterback Jared Goff, running back Todd Gurley and the rest of this team propel itself to another victory? The New York Giants stand in the way.
Odds
Line: Rams (-3.5)
Over/Under: 42
The Rams are the road team but they are also the favorites here. Sean McVay’s club is expected to win their sixth game of the season and have been established as a 3.5-point favorite via OddsShark. That over/under stands at 42 and it’s very realistic to expect that total to be surpassed.

Perhaps there’s a little stubbornness here. Could the New York Giants actually be as bad as they have shown for most of the season? Offensively, this is a club that has done a much better job as of late running the football. And Wade Phillips’ defensive unit has had its problems this season when it comes to opposing ground attacks. And if McAdoo’s club is to pull off a little surprise, that’s the key to keeping the Los Angeles Rams’ revitalized offense off the field and on the sidelines.
All told, we are willing to give Eli Manning and company one more chance. Look for the Giants’ pass rush to have the final say in this contest.
Pick: Giants 17, Rams 16
