DraftKings NFL 2017: Week 9 Lineup
By Joe Romano
High Value Tight Ends
Jack Doyle – Indianapolis Colts ($4,300) – The Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle had an impressive outing in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The fifth-year tight end finished with 121 yards on 12 catches and a touchdown. He has emerged as quarterback Jacoby Brissett’s top target, especially in the red zone. Doyle has five catches in five of his last six games. With tight ends it is about opportunity almost as much as matchup. Doyle gets a decent matchup in the Houston Texans, a defense that allowed two scores to a tight end last week. Indianapolis will likely be throwing often in this game and Doyle is the team’s touchdown maker in this game. He’s over $2000 cheaper than the top option and DraftKings’ tenth priced tight end.

Vernon Davis – Washington Redskins ($4,100) – The Washington Redskins have an elite tight end in Jordan Reed. Unfortunately he has struggled to stay healthy every season he’s been in the league. Washington has Vernon Davis as their backup, a once elite tight end who has shown that he still has some juice left in his legs. Davis is a value play any time that Reed misses action. With Reed suffering a hamstring injury a week ago, Davis will again be thrust into action. In the game that Reed missed earlier this season Davis caught give passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. The Seahawks are an elite defense but have shown vulnerability to tight ends at times. Davis at that low price becomes a top play for those looking to save money at the tight end position.
Tyler Kroft – Cincinnati Bengals ($3,900) – The Cincinnati Bengals are in a similar situation as the Washington Redskins. They have an elite tight end who can’t stay healthy. Tight end Tyler Kroft has filled in for Tyler Eifert while Eifert is out with an injury. He’s been serviceable in filling in. With Jacksonville up next, the Bengals offense will need to find space in the middle of the field to avoid those elite corners. If the Bengals can get into the red zone, Kroft will be the target that quarterback Andy Dalton locks on to. This is a long shot but the tight end position is very tough to predict in fantasy. Kroft is a dart throw and hoping for a touchdown in a tough matchup in Week 9 but a value play none the less.
