The WWE SmackDown Live taping in Manchester, England has come to a close … so, did AJ Styles win the WWE Championship?

It was a bit of a surprise to everyone late last week when WWE SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon announced that AJ Styles would be taking on Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship on the next edition of the show. To some, the timing seemed to suggest that a title change could be in the works close to Survivor Series, while others believed it might just be a way to get Jinder more over before his hyped showdown with Brock Lesnar.

Well, the taping over in England came to a close just a short time ago. So, is the Phenomenal One a two-time world champion now? Was he able to do what many other since the spring have not — that being take the strap off Jinder Mahal?

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT AHEAD!

They would never do a world title change on a taped show so close to one of the biggest shows of the year, would they? Nah, they would never.

Well, they actually did. Yes, folks, AJ Styles is your new WWE Champion. After a back-and-forth match between the two, Styles hit the Phenomenal Forearm off the rope and pinned the champ clean for the 1-2-3.

Now, things get even more interesting from here. On Nov. 19 when Survivor Series takes place, it will now be Styles taking on Lesnar. And, let’s all be honest with ourselves here, this is a much more exciting potential main event for the show than Jinder being the one to take on the Beast Incarnate.

There’s little build still left to do for this matchup, but really, who cares? AJ Styles is going to be wrestling Brock Lesnar soon, and we’re all much more blessed in life for it.
