No reason to announce a small sample size caveat, we’re all adults here. You and I both know the NBA season is just a few weeks old. So there’s probably no reason to panic for teams that haven’t looked great yet as long as they are stacked with talent. (Sorry, Mavs). And the great shooting stats of the Magic and Pacers are surely unsustainable.

But one change that looks like it may be permanent and already has smashed previously believed notions is the free throw shooting ability of Andre Drummond. In what may be the feel good story of the young season, Drummond has almost doubled his career percentage.

So on the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast, we look at successes like this and celebrate accordingly. And as is our way, we also find many other stories of failure and revel in the sweet, sweet schadenfreude.

Among the topics covered:

  • Is there compelling evidence that Dwyane Wade is a sleeper agent sent to hamstring the Eastern Conference rivals of Pat Riley and the Heat?
  • Now that they’ve both finally turned their teams over to young stars, are the Knicks and Lakers cool again? Is this extremely distressing?
  • Who would win a fight, the Jokic Brothers or Janis Porzingis?
  • The Thunder, with Carmelo Anthony and Paul George, currently have a worse record than the Knicks and the Pacers. Are we seeing any cause for concern?
  • With the NBA’s minimum age being collectively bargained over the years, we make the case that maybe some thought should be given to having a maximum age.
