Get the Knicks a point guard already

Knicks Get
Spencer Dinwiddie
Nets Get
Kyle O'Quinn

The New York Knicks’ current point guard rotation is some mix of Jarrett Jack and Frank Ntilikina. In a word, it’s bad. Frankie Smokes might be incredible some day, but he isn’t now, and Jack just isn’t a starting caliber point guard in the NBA anymore.

New York needs help. It might be closer than the Knicks expect. The Brooklyn Nets have plenty of fun guards on their roster even without Jeremy Lin for the season, but Brooklyn is dying for a big man. The Nets’ center rotation is reminiscent of the Knicks’ point guard core: Brooklyn has Timofey Mozgov, Tyler Zeller and Jarrett Allen.

Luckily for Brooklyn, New York has a talented big man in Kyle O’Quinn that barely plays for the Knicks. Dinwiddie is fairly important to the Nets, but with D’Angelo Russell, Sean Kilpatrick and Isaiah Whitehead around Brooklyn could make do.

This is truly a trade that helps both teams. Dinwiddie is a fantastic personality, and he deserves his shot to really play in the league. He would be good for the Knicks, and for Ntilikina. O’Quinn would be easily the best center on the Nets, shoring up a huge hole on a team with no reason to tank.
