When you think about hard-nosed football, you have to mention the Chicago Bears. The Bears are one of two franchises remaining from the founding members of the NFL, having come into existence in 1919. Since then, they have won nine championships, including one Super Bowl, and have a record number of players and members of the organization enter the Hall of Fame.

In addition to having the most members in the Hall of Fame, they also have the most retired numbers, and most victories. Whether you call them the Monsters of the Midway, or just Da’ Bears, this is an iconic football franchise to say the least. In 1985, the Bears defense was arguably the best to ever play, and it culminated with them dancing the Super Bowl Shuffle prior to destroying the New England Patriots for their only Super Bowl title.

The organization has some of the more memorable faces to ever play the game in Dick Butkus, Mike Ditka, Walter Payton, and Gale Sayers. They have also had their fair share of tragedy, like the untimely death of running back Brian Piccolo. For an organization that was bought for only $100 by George Halas, they sure have made their mark on professional sports.

Currently, the Bears are in rebuilding mode, and the hope is that first round pick Mitchell Trubisky can get them back to dominance in a very tough NFC North. He has looked pretty decent early on, and with a rebuilt defense, they could be relevant sooner than later. Playing inside Soldier Field is an honor for whoever puts on a Bears uniform, and this franchise has certainly won more than they have lost since their inception.
