1. Y’all ready for a three-match?

Hey, guess what? The No. 1 team in the country is Alabama and the No. 2 team in the nation is Clemson. If you’re not ready for a three-match, well, get ready for it then. Though ESPN may hate it, there is a chance that we could get a third straight national title game between No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson.

Alabama won in 2015, while Clemson got its second national title in school history last year. On paper, these two southern powers matchup marvelously. However, who from the Northeast, Midwest or West Coast would want to watch this game again?

We have to believe that at the end of the day, the Selection Committee will be told to put Alabama against Clemson on the same side of the bracket to avoid another meeting in the national championship. An undefeated Alabama should be the No. 1 team in the nation after winning its fourth straight SEC championship. However, could the Selection Committee have Clemson as the No. 4 seed as a one-loss ACC Champion?

Which two teams would leapfrog Clemson to get No. 2 and No. 3 in that instance? It would have to be an undefeated Big Ten champion Wisconsin at No. 2 and a one-loss Big 12 champion Oklahoma. Moving Clemson up to No. 2 with one loss this early in the process could lead to disastrous consequences for television ratings. The U wasn’t good enough to be No. 2, huh?
