Best NFL games of Week 11: Goff, Keenum meet in NFC showdown
By Joe Schiller
4. New England Patriots at Oakland Raiders
Sunday afternoon we’ve got another AFC powerhouse against an AFC West hopeful that’s looking to stay alive in the playoff race. It’s an absolute must-win game for the Raiders and it doesn’t get any harder than when Patriots coming into town. That’s why this is one of the games you should tune into this week.
Off a bye week, the Raiders are rested for a second-half push to the playoffs but face off against Tom Brady. Brady has some controversial history in Oakland dating back to the early 2000s but don’t worry, the Tuck Rule won’t be in effect this week. Still, it’s going to take a hell of a lot more than a rule change for the Raiders to come away with a win. Even with their struggles, the Patriots have still been extremely hard to stop. And with a Brady-Belichick team, you know they keep getting better as the season goes on.
This game feels like a toss-up. Either Derek Carr and the Raiders come out firing and keep this one close or Brady and the Patriots’ offense put this game out of reach early. We are all hoping for the first one and it’ll certainly help that the Raiders have the Oakland crowd behind them.
If there’s any saving grace for Jack Del Rio, it’s that the Patriots have the topped ranked passing offense but also the worst ranked passing defense. It’s time for Carr to prove exactly why he’s worth the $125 million he got over the offseason. A win keeps the Raiders’ Wild Card hopes alive but a loss crushes those hopes.
