Every NFL team’s Mount Rushmore
Baltimore Ravens
-Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Jonathan Ogden
The Baltimore Ravens have a couple of Super Bowl squads to pick from for their Mount Rushmore, and they have one of the more talented groups on both sides of the ball in the entire league for their monument.
The Ravens defense in the early 2000s could make its own Mount Rushmore for the entire franchise’s history, but we’ll settle for two names on the list to split things evenly. To start, there’s not much debate as to who the face of the entire franchise would be, and that man has to be Ray Lewis.
Lewis helped lead two Super Bowl-winning defenses for the Ravens and was the heart and soul of the team as a lifer for the franchise in his 17-year career in Baltimore. There’s not much doubt as to why he’d be the first name on the list and starts things off for the Ravens.
Next up on the defensive side of the mountain would have to be Ed Reed. While he wasn’t a part of two Super Bowl-winning defenses like Lewis was, Reed still earned himself a ring with the team’s win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. Outside of that, he’ll go down as one of the best safeties in football history, playing alongside some of the best defensive players the league will ever see on a team where defense truly reigned supreme.
Rounding out the last defensive spot on the list, in a monument dominated by those on that side of the ball, Terrell Suggs adds some sizzle to this Rushmore of Ravens. He’s been around forever, and his talent and leadership in the Ravens’ linebacking corps can’t be matched. He’s one of the best linebackers in league history, and it’s impressive to see him succeed at the age he is.
Every Ravens fan needs a Ray Lewis t-shirt in their collection.
Last up on the list has to be Hall of Fame offensive lineman Jonathan Ogden, who was both an incredible player on the field and a huge piece of the team’s history off of it. Ogden was the team’s first-ever draft choice, and played his entire 12-year career for the Ravens, with 11 Pro Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl win on his resume.
