It looks like he’ll have some coin thrown at him to make the move

On Thursday, one of the college insiders to report Arkansas’ interest in Malzahn was Bruce Feldman. In his report on Twitter, what stood out the most was when he noted that the big money boosters are the ones pushing for the program to bring in the current Auburn head coach.

We all know that when it comes to a prominent, proud college football program searching for a new head coach and the people with the cash have a goal in mind, some crazy things can happen.

Right now, according to USA TODAY Sports, Malzahn’s annual salary at Auburn is a little over $4.7 million with a buyout of nearly $7 million. That would be a lot of money to rake up to lure Malzahn to Fayetteville. However, Arkansas boosters are tired of futility and desperately want the program to compete in the SEC once again. They were headed there before Bobby Petrino took a motorcycle ride with someone he shouldn’t have, and they’ve failed to really replicate that success since.

The people with the large wallets want to start winning now, and if Malzahn is their main target, they’ll start dumping out the piggy banks in no time.
