Marcus Allen

S, Penn State

After two straight losses derailed their College Football Playoff chances, the Penn State Nittany Lions responded with a beat down of Rutgers. That’s not a shocker to anyone, but they showed great defensive resolve in the victory.

One of the leaders of the defense, Marcus Allen, had a few tackles on the day in the loss. For Allen, we know what he is at this point and what he’s going to have to do if he wants to push for a top draft spot.

He’s a safety that loves to hit and get physical in the box. He has a spot at the next level, but to be a cornerstone of a defense, it’s going to come down to his ability to play in coverage and he has shown flashes this season.

One of the best personalities in college, Allen has the leadership skill that will make teams want him in their locker room. Right now, it’s about proving he can be a complete player leading up to the draft.

Denzel Ward

CB, Ohio State

Much like Penn State, the Ohio State Buckeyes had a week where they let their anger out in victory. The Buckeyes dominated a good Michigan State team at their own place via a 48-3 win on the afternoon.

The defense had a huge day against Michigan State. Brian Lewerke threw two interceptions on the afternoon and the Michigan State passing game could go nowhere. Denzel Ward didn’t have any interceptions, but he did have a pass defensed.

With a dynamite corner like him locking down a portion of the field, it forces the quarterbacks to throw elsewhere and that leads to trouble. He’s the next great Ohio State cornerback ready to prove himself as a top pick.

The Buckeyes will have a huge battle soon with Michigan and are hoping enough chaos happens they can make the College Football Playoff still. It’s an incredible long shot, but they’re no strangers to getting in with losses on their resume.
