There’s a new Women’s Champion in NXT. At TakeOver: WarGames, Ember Moon outlasted Kairi Sane, Peyton Royce and Nikki Cross to win the coveted title.

Ember Moon is the new NXT Women’s Champion. Moon efforted herself to win an intense Fatal 4-Way Match at TakeOver: WarGames, becoming the latest to carry the prestigious title. Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce and Kairi Sane pulled out crazy efforts themselves. But none were enough to take Moon down on Saturday night in Houston.

As is often the case, the match featured high-octane energy and excitement. Sane, at one point, delivered her patented elbow drop onto both Royce and Cross. Later on, though, Royce seemed to be on the cusp of winning the title. However, as she grabbed Cross, Moon leaped off the top rope, hitting her Eclipse finisher on both ladies. The jolt of the move caused Royce to bounce out of the ring, leaving Cross open to take the pin. Moon pounced, hooked the legs, and won the match in dramatic fashion.

Moon, of course, had her fair share of battles this year. She came up short at TakeOver: Orlando against Asuka. An injury caused her to miss the TakeOver: Chicago event. Then, after making her way back to the ring, she came up short again against Asuka at TakeOver: Brooklyn III.

In the end, three months later, in her home state, Moon proved to be victorious. She may have taken the road less traveled, but in the end, it was all worth it for Ember Moon.

Next: Best WWE star from each state

Moon is the sixth NXT Women’s Champion in the brand’s history. She follows the likes of Paige, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Asuka. To say those are big shoes to full would be underselling it. But, Moon certainly has the talent to be up to par with those ladies.
