No. 15: Mississippi State

Mississippi State had to claw back, but it defeated Arkansas, 28-21, to stay in the rankings and likely keep a fair spot. That’s also after five wins in the past six games, including a seven-point loss to Alabama. Even with a 4-3 record in the SEC, this season should be considered a success for the Bulldogs.

No. 14: UCF

UCF will always be held back by the conference it plays in, but that shouldn’t deter the perfect season that’s nearly complete. Saturday’s win over Temple pushed them to 10-0, with a clash against South Florida as the only remaining game. If the Golden Knights move to 11-0, they will have an outside chance at the New Year’s Six.

No. 13: Washington State

Washington State was the rare team that didn’t play in Week 12. It already played 11 games, so there was room to space out the second-to-last and final matchups of the season. This will be an interstate clash against Washington, which should provide an offensive outburst from both sides.

No. 12: TCU

Despite no Kenny Hill, TCU shut down Texas Tech, 27-3. It stabilized the team’s spot in the College Football Rankings and set up a clash in the Big 12 Championship Game. Especially as Oklahoma State fell out of the mix. Before this, the Horned Frogs will face Baylor and look for a 10th win. Along with potentially defeating the Sooners, this team might have an outside chance at the playoff.

No. 11: USC

USC outlasted its Los Angeles counterpart UCLA, 28-23. This closed the Trojans’ season at 10-2, falling short of the National Championship expectations with former Heisman hopeful Sam Darnold under center. The Pac-12 Championship Game remains, however, which can push them into the top 10.
