29. Chicago Bulls

This week in Bulls zaniness, they won a game where Kemba Walker scored 47 points for the Hornets. That’s probably not supposed to happen, and it maybe says more about the Hornets’ roster issues than the Bulls’ fight and resolve.

Sunday’s loss to the Suns is more of what the Bulls really be going for the rest of the year. In a 113-105 loss, the Suns moved the ball en route to 32 assists on 45 made baskets and picked apart the Bulls’ defense. But in the loss, rookie Lauri Markannen scored a season high 26 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. And they maybe didn’t get him the ball enough, according to Fred Hoiberg.

“Lauri was phenomenal,” Hoiberg said, per the Chicago Tribune. “But when he’s open, we have to get him the ball. When he’s got it rolling and guys are switching and he has the point guard buried on his back, we didn’t get him the ball. We took a lot of rushed, contested shots.

Per Tankathon, the Bulls have the the third best odds of landing the top pick in June’s draft behind the Mavericks and Hawks. Finding ways to lose games where the best player on the quarter almost drops 50 points would be a good way to help increase those odds. Zach LaVine return, which seems closer now that he’s set to go through a contact practice Monday, should make them more interesting even as they continue to lose a lot games.
