NFL Draft 2018: Top 32 draft prospects entering Week 13
Baker Mayfield has been in the news this week for not the reasons he was hoping for. At the same time, his character and all of those questions will ultimately have their chance to present themselves in front of general managers at the combine.
As for the action on the field, Mayfield has to be the favorite for the Heisman right now and his play is going to make his draft stock continue to rise. With the heavy quarterback class facing a little uncertainty at the top, Mayfield has taken advantage.
Mayfield once again protected the ball well for the Sooners. The quarterback was 20/30 passing for 257 yards and three touchdowns. He didn’t throw any interceptions and put his receivers in the right spot to make plays.
The incident is going to be the big takeaway from this one and it is important to note that Mayfield did indeed apologize. As a result, he won’t be starting against West Virginia this week in the regular season finale for Oklahoma.
Courtland Sutton continues to remain one of the most intriguing draft prospects out there. While he doesn’t play for a power-five program, he has one of the best bodies of work in terms of physical attributes and numbers among receivers.
While he’s been rattling off some huge weeks repeatedly on the field, Sutton didn’t have that this week. He had just one catch for 35 yards. Now, he did indeed find the end zone so that tacked onto his total for the year.
He’s going to push for a top pick simply because of his size and his ability to go up and get the football. Sutton is the target of every game plan each and every week, which makes life even more difficult.
It’s been a credit to him all season long that he’s been able to thrive with all the looks defenses are throwing at him. Nonetheless, some team is going to see a top receiving option written all over him come the draft.
