4. Buh-bye Boston

At last, the streak is over. After 16-straight wins, the Boston Celtics have finally fallen. Of course, the end of this streak has absolutely no impact on the larger picture. It’s just crazy to think they strung together 16-consecutive wins without Gordon Hayward, the Celtics’ second-best player.

The streak came to an end at the hands of the Heat in Miami. From the tip, Miami looked calm and composed. The streak looked in trouble. The Celtics found themselves trailing 27-16 after the first quarter. To see Boston trailing was a sight in itself, a sight fans have rarely beheld this season. The C’s clawed their way back, coming within one possession during the fourth quarter. However, a 35-point fourth wouldn’t be enough. The Heat held on to hand the Celtics their first loss since Oct. 18. Luckily for Boston, the Celtics take on the Magic next, who are currently riding a six-game losing streak. Boston looks to avoid its first back-to-back loss since the first two games of the season.

There are many reasons to be happy about the streak, regardless of its end. Kyrie Irving has thrown his name into the hat as an early MVP favorite. The Celtics are not only the top team in the East, but the NBA’s best team record-wise. Boston holds a four-game lead for the top spot in the conference and the streak brought with it a few signature wins over powerhouse teams. It is legitimate and despite the streak being over, Boston is here to stay.
