2. Ridiculous Rockets

If many fans around the league were asked about the NBA’s best offense, an overwhelming majority would answer with the Golden State Warriors. However, they’d be wrong. The Houston Rockets are the NBA’s best offense and quite frankly, it isn’t even close. Most recently, the Rockets put away Denver by scoring 125 points on their way to a comfortable 30-point win.

But it’s something else Houston’s offense did this week that caught the eye of many. The Rockets scored 90 points — well, so what? — in a half. In a single half. Two quarters, 24 minutes, however you’d like to put it. The Rockets did it. On that given night, the Rockets surpassed the Warriors’ total in one half of basketball. Although they took their foots off the gas, the Rockets still managed to put up 142 points on the night, did I mention it was on the road, too? 90 in one half is impressive, but on the road, it looks even more incredible. The Rockets routed the Suns 142-116.

The victory in Phoenix over the Suns was one of the many Rockets wins on the road this season. Despite beginning the year as one of the NBA’s hottest teams (14-4 record; atop the West), the Rockets have played a majority of their games on the road. There, they are 9-1 on the year. Houston gets the chance to relax and settle in for a bit as it returns home for the remainder of the month. Although Houston isn’t getting as much attention as it should be, watch out for James Harden and his crew. Especially since Chris Paul recently returned to the red-hot Rockets.
