Winner: Auburn Tigers (No. 6 up to No. 4)

Not many teams can say they beat No. 1. However, Auburn has been able to say that twice this season. Yes, the Tigers took down the playoff rankings’ No. 1 team, the Georgia Bulldogs, a few weeks back by 23 points and then they did the same with Alabama on Saturday night in the Iron Bowl.

Auburn has to be considered the best two-win team in recent memory, beating teams like Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi State and dominating conference play against inferior foes. The Tigers’ only conference loss on the year was at LSU by just four points.

What was the Tigers’ other loss? A 14-6 defensive battle at Clemson in the first month of the year. The Tigers were unable to overcome a slew of Clemson sacks and they fell in a tough road game to the defending national champs.

They might be able to exact revenge on the Tigers in the playoff, if Auburn is able to win the SEC title and Clemson comes away with the ACC crown. For now, the Tigers will have to settle for jumping into the top-five of the AP Top 25.
