Loser: Miami Hurricanes (No. 2 down to No. 7)

The first upset of the week came early. Well, that’s not exactly true as Ole Miss pulled off the upset of Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl on Thursday night, but Friday afternoon featured one of the most intriguing games of the season. Going into the game, no one expected Pittsburgh to give the undefeated Miami Hurricanes trouble, but it did.

The Panthers, led by freshman quarterback Kenny Pickett, were able to upend the 10-0 Hurricanes at Heinz Field, 24-14. Everyone was expecting Miami to storm back and take a lead after falling behind like it did against Virginia the week before, but that wasn’t the case.

Miami looked unprepared for the Week 13 matchup and Pat Narduzzi’s Panthers took advantage, upsetting the nation’s second-ranked team. While this loss didn’t have any bearing on the Hurricanes conference title hopes, it does knock them from the top-five in the AP Top 25 and forces them into a must-win in the ACC title game just to keep playoff hopes alive.

Miami will face Clemson in the conference championship game and the Tigers will be prepared to make a third straight College Football Playoff appearance — and potentially third-straight national title game.
