6. Josh Doctson

It’s hard to get too excited about a player that had just two catches this past week, but at least one of Doctson’s receptions was made in the end zone. The talented second-year pro has had a rocky start to his career, mostly due to injuries, but he’s beginning to show why the Washington Redskins made him a first-round pick in 2016.

Doctson has great size and speed, and his ball skills are solid for a player of his age. Washington’s Thanksgiving night tilt with the New York Giants was an ugly affair, which didn’t leave much room for fantasy production through the air. However, Doctson managing to find paydirt has to be viewed as an encouraging sign for a player that has seen his targets increase over the last few weeks.

Kirk Cousins remains a good quarterback, and the Washington offense shouldn’t have another rough go like they did on Thursday. While Jamison Crowder is still the No. 1 option in this passing game, Doctson is making a push for that role. His chemistry with Cousins seems to be improving, and he deserves a bench spot on fantasy rosters at the very least. He’s not a player that you’d feel too comfortable rolling out there this week, but injury-depleted owners may not have a choice.

Doctson’s volume is likely to remain where it’s been the last few weeks, but you could do a lot worse in the flex spot for a 12 or 14-team league. For 10-team leagues, he’s a solid bench player that retains upside. His ownership is approaching the 50 percent mark, so this is probably the last week he’ll make this list. Even if you don’t add him this week, keep an eye on him.
