5. Devontae Booker

The Broncos have probably been the most disappointing team in the NFL this season, and that has hurt the value of a lot of their players from a fantasy perspective. The running game has struggled mightily in recent weeks, which is why Booker remains owned in just a quarter of ESPN leagues. However, he’s worth a pickup for teams in need of help at the running back position simply because he’s outsnapping former workhorse CJ Anderson on a weekly basis.

Booker received just six carries against Oakland on Sunday, but the coaching staff seems to favor him as the running back of choice in the Denver stable right now. He’s not a special runner, but fantasy football is often about opportunity more than anything else. The Broncos have been playing quarterback roulette this season, but Trevor Siemian looks like he’ll be the man under center once again for this team. The Broncos should never have gone away from Siemian, as he gives the team their best chance to win. Sieman is not a gunslinger, though, and needs success in the running game to help set up his biggest strength, play-action passing.

Denver would be wise to lean on the running game this week against a Miami team that just got shredded on the ground by New England. Booker could be in for a solid workload, though he’ll still likely be entrenched in a timeshare with Anderson. He’s a player that needs to be owned in all leagues, but his ownership is likely to remain pretty low until he has a breakout performance. Scoop him up before that happens.
