Derwin James

Defensive Back, Florida State

Last year, the Cleveland Browns had a plethora of draft picks, though the injection of young talent has not helped them in the win column in 2017. In 2018, they will have a bunch of draft picks as well, and if the season plays out the way it has been so far, the Browns could be picking twice in the first ten picks. With the first pick, they are going quarterback, and it will be interesting to see what they do with the second one.

Although they drafted Jabrill Peppers in the first round last year, they should look to add another safety in 2018. Derwin James from Florida State is a good looking safety prospect, who has battled injuries during his time with the Seminoles. He could team with Peppers to give the Browns a solid safety tandem for years to come, and maybe make this defense formidable for once.

Myles Garrett has been terrific, giving the Browns a legitimate pass rushing threat up front. If Cleveland can solidify the backend of their defense, they should be able to compete in an AFC North that could be winnable if Ben Roethlisberger decides to retire from the Pittsburgh Steelers. This team is a could years away still, but you have to think all the young pieces they are adding via the draft will eventually make them competitive.
