New York Jets (+4.5) vs. Kansas City Chiefs

This line doesn’t make any sense. The Kansas City Chiefs have lost five of six games. It has gotten so bad offensively in Kansas City that fans are clamoring for a too ripe Patrick Mahomes to come in and quarterback the team over Alex Smith. And they are laying 4.5 points on the road to the New York Jets?

Take the Jets getting points to cover and possibly win. New York might be out of the AFC playoff picture at 4-7, but the Chiefs haven’t beaten anybody good since early October. Their only win during this rough spot has been to the toothless horses we call the 2017 Denver Broncos. The Jets aren’t good, but it’s disrespectful that the Chiefs are laying more than a field goal in their building.

New York hasn’t quit on the season. They are playing hard for head coach Todd Bowles. The Jets have had some tough losses this season, including last week’s to the Carolina Panthers. Since New York already has four wins on the year, the Jets probably won’t be able to pick their next franchise quarterback in the top-five without trading up. Bowles may still be coaching for his job, so he’ll do what he needs to do to give his team its best chance at a victory.

If Kansas City doesn’t beat the Jets on Sunday, then the Chiefs have some serious problems. They won’t be holding on to the AFC West division lead for very long. This game might be more important to the Chiefs for that reason, if we’re being totally honest. However, they won’t win by more than a field goal. Take the Jets getting 4.5 points at home.
