FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy Hockey lineup – December 5, 2017
By Paul Horvat
High Salary Defensemen
Kris Letang, PIT vs. NYR ($6500): Starting off with another player from the top game to target tonight. Defensemen are rarely slate breakers, however, tonight this large slate may require spending up on defense just in case. His price is perfect for a mini stack with the Pittsburgh power play or a one-off if you can fit him in.
Kevin Shattenkirk, NYR at PIT (6200): The Rangers top defensemen will be involved in the offense he is the power play quarterback and in the top defensive pairing. If the Rangers are scoring he will be involved. You should stack him if you’re paying up for maximum leverage.
Victor Hedman, TB vs. NYI ($5700): You read that correctly only $5700 for the top defenseman who plays on the top pairing and power plays for the lightning. With 62 shots on goal and 33 blocked shots on the year, this floor for this price is a steal. Stack him with the big guns he’s an elite play tonight.
High Value Defensemen
Shea Weber, MTL Vs. STL ($5200): Plays on the first line as well as power plays. Averages 14.6 fantasy points per game and has 48 blocked shots and plays a ridiculous 25 minutes per game. He is also a great pivot off of some of the higher priced players above as a one-off.
Dustin Byfuglien, WPG at DET ($5100): Does it feel like he’s a high-value play all the time? He is, and until FanDuel raises his salary he is almost a must play in a Winnipeg stack tonight.
Johnny Boychuk, TB vs. NYI ($4300): An elite pivot off of Nick Leddy his teammate, most DFS players will overlook him when building lineups. Averaging 22 minutes per game he fills the stat sheet multiple ways and has a high floor with maximum upside in this game pace.
