Courtland Sutton

Wide Receiver, SMU

The Washington Redskins were beaten pretty soundly by the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football this past week, as they continue to struggle to play consistent football. It is likely they will not make the playoffs this season, and questions are still around as to whether or not they will bring back Kirk Cousins. The smart move would be to lock him up to a long-term deal, because if they do not do so, some team is going to come in and scoop him up.

This offseason, the Redskins lost both Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson to free agency, leaving them very shorthanded in the passing game. They did go out and sign Terrell Pryor Sr., but he has had a terrible first season in Washington. They need to use their high draft pick in 2018 to grab a standout wide receiver, and Courtland Sutton from SMU looks to be the best player at his position in this draft class.

Sutton is as NFL-ready as any wideout in this draft, and the Redskins need someone who is going to come in and produce right away. At SMU, he has been used not only over the middle, but also deep, as he possesses great speed as well as fantastic hands. Washington has the talent to be a playoff team in 2018, but they need to shore up some holes on their roster first.
