18. Derrick Henry

Henry undoubtedly posted huge numbers en route to winning the 2015 Heisman Trophy, but doesn’t rank too high in the dominance category due to the stiff competition in the award race.

A native of Yulee, Florida in the Jacksonville area, Henry was unstoppable in high school and became the top-rated athlete in the class of 2013. Originally a Georgia commit, Henry switched to Alabama and broke out with 100 yards in the 2014 Sugar Bowl as a true freshman.

After racking up nearly 1,000 yards while splitting carries with T.J. Yeldon, Henry finally got his chance to be the primary ball carrier as a junior in 2015. Henry took advantage with a monster season, piling up 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns on 395 carries, including a 158-yard performance that helped Alabama survive a tough challenge from Clemson in the national title game.

The 2015 Heisman Race was tight throughout the season, as Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey set the NCAA record for all-purpose yards, with Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson also lurking in the picture. Voters decided to reward Henry, who received the majority of first-place votes and beat out McCaffrey by nearly 300 points.

Henry’s 2,219 rushing yards are the fifth-most in a single college football season, and he broke numerous records for an Alabama team that has churned out some terrific running backs over the year. Still, the competition was strong enough to ensure Henry didn’t dominate the competition to the same degree as other Heisman winners.
