Cowboys stay alive, Ravens get hot and 49ers taking off
At the cost of just an early second round pick, the 49ers long-term quarterback situation has been fixed. That trade has a chance to go down as one of the best moves ever made in this organization’s great history.
Is it too early to jump to the conclusion that Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be a star? Of course, but many of us been firmly in his corner for quite some time now. Many of us are also firmly in Kyle Shanahan’s corner as well and that marriage should have 49ers’ fans doing cartwheels for the future of the organization.
Whether San Francisco slaps the franchise tag on Garoppolo or locks him up with a long-term deal (either of which they have plenty of salary cap room to make happen), Garoppolo isn’t going anywhere. Making matters even more appealing for this organization is that they are surely going to be very active in free agency to find receivers and blocking help for their new quarterback.
Plus, without a need at quarterback, San Francisco can either ransom off that pick for a plethora of draft capital or they can select a premier defensive player. They could even draft a special running back like Saquon Barkley, as Carlos Hyde’s contract expires after the year. Or Hyde could be back, as the Niners have an immense amount of cap space.

Many might not have been paying a lot of attention to the 49ers/Bears game, but with very little around him Garoppolo played excellent, including many high degree of difficulty throws against a quality defense. He distributed the ball to eight different receivers in a very efficient manner while San Francisco possessed the ball for nearly 39 minutes on the road.
Garoppolo played even better than his impressive stats indicated and the lone interception wasn’t his fault. Garoppolo didn’t get his new team in the end zone, but he did lead the 49ers to their second win of the season. Many more victories are to come for Garoppolo and Shanahan.
