Duke is downed by Boston College: 3 takeaways from the upset
Ky Bowman Is A Hero
If only there was a hero on the mean streets of Twitter who tried to warn you about Ky Bowman…
For those who are just joining the Bowman bandwagon now, he has a neat backstory. In high school, he was a sought-after college football recruit, yet only a 3-star prospect as a hooper.
That’s the bare bones gist of his origin story. Also, he has red hair. Not because he dyes it, but due to the blood of destruction left in his wake after he crosses over the shook guard tasked with defending him.
Bowman had 30 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists against Duke. While that might seem shocking, it really isn’t. Between our red-haired hero and Jerome Robinson, the Eagles have one of the best backcourts in the nation — even if people don’t discuss that duo as such.
Boston College is going to be fine this season, for what it is worth. I don’t think the Eagles are “good” or will make a run at the NCAA Tournament in earnest, as I’m of the belief that a run like that would put them a full season ahead of schedule.
And yet, let’s be Camp Crystal Lake clear: Ky Bowman is special. Jerome Robinson is really good. Jim Christian is an incredibly underrated coach (maybe). There’s reason to be as excited about BC hoops as you’d be if The Pope showed up at your house.
Undergarment-changing-needed type of excitement.
As a kicker, Bowman is an electric player to watch in terms of entertainment value. With a nation turning its consuming eyes toward Oklahoma’s Trae Young, who does deserve your love, Bowman is in the Northeast doing some remarkably fun things as an undersized guard himself.
