2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold lead the way
By Brad Weiss
When it comes to class, there are few players classier than New York Jets quarterback Josh McCown. The 38-year old McCown has come into New York and led a young group of players this season, keeping them competitive against some of the best teams in football. On Sunday, McCown saw his season come to an end, as he broke his left hand against the Denver Broncos in the Jets worst loss of the season.
Heading into next season, the Jets organization wants him back, and based on his press conference after Sunday’s loss, he may actually come back. If the Jets want to have any kind of long-term success, they have to bring in another quarterback this offseason, and they may be able to find their man via the draft. Mason Rudolph has been a tremendous player during his time at Oklahoma State, and has the mental fortitude to be able to handle the bumps and bruises with playing in the New York market.
If McCown comes back, he could start the season as the starting quarterback, and give Rudolph an incredible person to learn under. McCown has been the consummate professional during his NFL career, and that is the kind of person you want teaching your young quarterbacks about life in the NFL. Rudolph is a super-talented quarterback, and if he can be successful , the Jets could have their first long-term solution at the position since Chad Pennington.
