Roquan Smith

Linebacker, Georgia

The Detroit Lions picked up a solid win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, as they kept their playoff hopes alive. Last season, the Lions were able to secure a Wildcard spot in the NFC, and it looks like that would have to be their path this season. The Lions have tremendous talent on both sides of the ball, and bringing in a player to help bolster their defense would make sense in the middle of the first round.

One such player could be linebacker Roquan Smith, who has been an absolute beast for the Georgia Bulldogs. Smith has the talent to play sideline to sideline at the next level, and is one of the hardest hitters in the SEC. He also has a fantastic nose for the ball, as he came up with two timely turnovers during the SEC Championship Game against the Auburn Tigers to clinch the Bulldogs spot in the College Football Playoff.

The NFC North is going to be the Packers as long as Aaron Rodgers is playing, but you can counter him by investing in the defense. The Lions are pretty solid up front, and their secondary has been better this season as well. A player like Smith would fortify this defense in the middle, and judging by his body of work during his college career, he is going to be a good one at the next level.
