2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold lead the way
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants made the move back to Eli Manning on Sunday, this after ending his consecutive games started streak by inserting Geno Smith in the starting lineup a week ago. Smith took the loss against the Oakland Raiders in Week 13, and while he did not do much to help the team win, the effort on the field against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14 was enough to make Giants fans throw up. The Cowboys went into Metlife Stadium and throttled the Giants by the score of 30-10, in a game that was a microcosm of the entire 2017 season.
The team looked terrible on both sides of the ball, and when it comes to the quarterback position, it may be time to start thinking about the future. New York drafted Davis Webb in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but it is not clear as whether he is a legitimate prospect to take over the reins for Manning. If the Giants find themselves picking this early in round one, look for them to draft a quarterback, and Sam Darnold could be there at No. 2.
After firing Jerry Reese, there will be a new general manager in town, and he will be looking to make a splash. Darnold is regarded by many as the safest pick at the quarterback position, and he could certainly end up being selected first overall. If he is there at No. 2, the Giants have to pounce, as this organization does not find themselves in this situation very often.
