Rashaan Evans

Linebacker, Alabama

The New Orleans Saints lost a tough game to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night, as their star running back was injured with a concussion on the first drive. Currently, the Saints are in the mix for a Wildcard spot, but this NFC South is really going to come down to the wire. New Orleans has run the ball a lot better this season thanks to the tandem of Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram, and it has taken a lot of pressure off of Drew Brees in the passing game.

In addition to being better on the ground, the Saints are also playing great defense, and that has helped them win more games already this season than they had the previous three years. With their top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Saints should continue to bring in talent on the defensive side of the ball, and Rashaan Evans from Alabama is a talented linebacker. Evans is the best linebacker in this draft class, and is certain to be a first round pick, thanks to his rare blend of size and speed.

Last year, the Saints drafted Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore in the first round, and he has been one of the best corners in the NFC this season. If the Saints decide to pick a player like Evans, they will be adding an elite player to their linebacking corps, while continuing to get better on defense. Every team in the NFC South can put points on the board, and it will be up to who plays the best defense when it comes down to who will come away with the division championship in 2017.
