10 WWE storylines in 2017 that made wrestling better

3. Kurt Angle returns to WWE
We’re going to go ahead and leave the Jason Jordan situation out of this because that’s certainly one thing I’d like to forget about when it comes to 2017 and the Kurt Angle comeback story. However, it was nearly impossible not to be excited when it was announced that the 1996 Olympic gold medalist was returning to WWE to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
For one, his Hall of Fame speech was marvelous. Angle has always been willing to take so many chances, not only in the ring but with his overall character as well and the fact that he was willing to pour milk all over himself at an event like that while wearing a tuxedo was fantastic. While many hoped that the induction wasn’t just a one-off, it was confirmed that Angle would be returning to WWE television on a full-time basis as the new General Manager of Monday Night RAW when Vince McMahon introduced him the night after WrestleMania.
So yes, the Jason Jordan thing is in there but watching him interact with Stephanie McMahon has always been a treat and seeing him in the ring with so many of the new WWE superstars has been fun to watch as well. Naturally, people wondered if we’d ever see Angle compete in a WWE ring again and for so long it seemed that it would never happen. However, when a virus hit the locker room, forcing Roman Reigns out of The Shield reunion that was supposed to take place at WWE TLC in October, Angle passed a physical and was put into the match in one of the most shocking announcements of the year.
While it didn’t really fit the mold of the intensity of The Shield as they prepared for a 5-on-3 Handicap Match against The Miz, Braun Strowman, Kane, Sheamus and Cesaro, Angle looked so very happy to be competing again and had the biggest smile on his face before they made their way through the crowd. Decked out in a black vest of his own, Angle looked good in his return and the red, white and blue made its return as well when he captained Team RAW at Survivor Series. More matches are coming for Kurt Angle and it’s going to continue to be great.
