NBA2k18 is the premier basketball video game. They even beat the league in revealing new jerseys to the world.

Nike took over the NBA’s jerseys prior to this season. They slowly pushed out the jerseys for each team over the summer. The plan for Nike was to give each team four new jerseys. Each team has showcased three of the jerseys. The “City Edition”, was to be the final addition.

It looks like someone over at NBA2K18, the most popular basketball video game, got their hands on the jerseys early. In a recent update to the game, players were able to sneak a peak at the “City Edition” jerseys.

A quick thinking video gamer was able to snap a picture of each jersey minus the Heat and Raptors. You can see all the jerseys here. The jerseys have already been pulled from the game after 2K released a quick acting update.

There is plenty that jumps out when looking at these jerseys. For starters is the names. Nike has gone away from either the city or mascot on the front. Cleveland is “The Land”, Charlotte is “Buzz City”, Golden State is “The Bay”, Portland is “Rip City” and Washington is “The District of Columbia”.

Nike also went with some funky pattern choices. Orlando’s jersey has a space effect that looks like something out of an actual Disney movie. Boston’s grey jerseys are modeled after the famous parquet floor. Brooklyn looks like they are wearing actual nets on their jerseys.

Finally we see some teams going with an international flair to their jerseys. The Houston Rockets, one of the most popular teams in China elected for Chinese writing on the front of their jersey. The Suns, who feature two jerseys in the article, are once again sporting the “Los Suns” print.

My favorites of the set are the New York Knicks who get a FDNY logo on the front and the Denver Nuggets with the dueling pick axes.

Next: The sudden collapse of the Memphis Grizzlies

What do you think of the new jerseys? We eagerly await Nike’s official release and to see what the missing teams, Miami and Toronto, have in store.
