4. Cam Newton calls it

Cam Newton is the perfect combination of cockiness and competitiveness. That was on display in a 31-24 win over the Green Bay Packers today. He had a hilarious exchange with the Packers defense in the first quarter saying, “You been watching film huh…Watch this” and proceeded to throw a touchdown pass to running back Christian McCaffery. When you talk the talk you have to back it up and Newton did just that.

Suddenly Newton and the Panthers are on a roll. Newton threw for four touchdowns on the day and is playing at an MVP kind of level. Along with Vikings, the Panthers have to considered one of the top teams in the NFC right now. Boy, it’s going to be fun watching that division in the playoffs this year.

3. The magic of Jimmy G.

Jimmy Garoppolo continues to work his magic and the 49ers are loving every second of it. Since making his debut in San Francisco, Garoppolo has lead the Niners to three straight wins, capped off by this game-winning field goal from Robbie Gould today. The Titans took the lead late in the fourth quarter but Garoppolo was able to lead his team down the field for the game-winning score. I guess he does have a little Tom Brady in him.

Not too shabby for a team that was 1-10 before starting Garoppolo this season. He’s a special talent and the 49ers could be a special team if they continue to build around him in the next few years.
