Dear Santa,

Hey, buddy. Are we still pulling our annual switch-a-roo this year where we trade places at the holidays? It’s been enjoyable taking time off right after Christmas so you can coach the team. Maybe it isn’t much of a vacation for you, but you’re still a hero in Kansas City after that playoff win. Sorry that I’m getting all the credit, but I’ve also been taking a lot of blame for you over the years. All those Eagles playoff failures? No one realized that was you and not me.

I don’t know how much you’ve kept up with things this year, but we’ve been very fortunate. The AFC West is a bit of a mess and we were able to survive a 1-6 stretch because of it. Here’s what you need to know before I hand you the headset after Christmas:

*Don’t play Patrick Mahomes. There will be calls for him to play, especially if the last game is meaningless, but you have to stick it out with Alex Smith.

*Run the Hunt and Hill offense. That means give the ball to Kareem Hunt or Tyreke Hill on every play. Sometimes, I like to trick the defense by going to Travis Kelce, but we can’t leave anything to chance if that final game against the Broncos is for a playoff spot.

*That said, make the Broncos quarterback look good. We’re not sure who they will start, but whoever it is, make him look good. Making him look bad means John Elway will go out and get Eli Manning or draft someone good. If we make him look good, maybe John will be lured into a false sense of security, keep him as the quarterback, and guarantee us two more victories next season.

See you in Hawaii.

Top gift choice: Same as usual
Second choice: Another playoff win.

Signed, Andy Reid
