Christmas Letters from all 32 NFL teams
Dear Tyrod Taylor,
Sorry, man.
It was never your fault. You can’t help it that LeSean McCoy is averaging his worst yards-per-carry since his rookie season. You didn’t give up 34 points to the New York Jets. You didn’t allow the Saints to run wild. The Saints run wild on everyone. Why did we blame you for those things?
I don’t know.
I don’t have a good answer for you. I think I was just angry at myself. I came to Buffalo as a defensive mastermind behind that outstanding Carolina Panthers defense. And then I watched as my defense gave up 34 points to a Josh McCown-led offense. No disrespect to Josh McCown, but he should not be the quarterback under center for an offense that scores 34 points.
I should have taken out my frustrations on the defense. But I took my frustrations out on you for losing that fumble. That’s my fault.
I’m new to this head coaching thing. I didn’t realize how tough it is. Being a defensive coordinator with Luke Kuechly on your team is a pretty easy gig. He covers up a lot of mistakes. I don’t have to deal with the offense. I didn’t have to worry about what was going on with Cam Newton. Can you imagine how I would have handled that?
I promise to be better moving forward. It’s not your fault.
