2018 NFL Mock Draft: Browns, Giants nab QBs
By Brad Weiss
Prior to the 2017 NFL season, there were plenty of people out there who thought the New York Jets were going to tank the year. During the offseason, New York got rid of a bunch of their veteran talent, paving the way for the organization to go with the youngsters in 2017. The kids have not played that bad, and though they currently sit at 5-9, this season could have been a heck of a lot worse considering who was asked to start.
Quarterback Josh McCown had a career-year for the Jets this season, though it ended prematurely with a broken hand in Week 15. The Jets turned to Bryce Petty during their Week 16 loss to the New Orleans Saints, and he did not look half bad. New York also has 2016 second-round pick Christian Hackenberg on the roster, and the former Penn State Nittany Lion was active for the first time this season this past weekend.
Even with young quarterbacks on the roster, I expect the Jets to draft a signal-caller in the first round. One such player could wind up being Mason Rudolph, who has been one of the best quarterbacks in the country during his time at Oklahoma State. He has the mindset to be able to succeed in New York, and when it comes to talent throwing the football, there are few players in this draft class that can match him in that area of expertise.
