The Premier League has officially reached the halfway mark, so who made the team of the half-season?

Manchester City have dominated the first half of the season, running out to what is surely an insurmountable lead in the title race thanks to the best start in Premier League history and a record-breaking winning streak.

But there’s more to the league this season than Pep Guardiola’s side. In an effort to celebrate the best players throughout the league, rather than just those on the team who have dominated it, this is the team of the half-season, with a twist: only one player per team is allowed.

Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus, to name only a few, have all been superb, but you can only pick one of them. FanSided’s soccer staff share their teams below:

Kevin De Bruyne is, unsurprisingly, one of most popular choices, with six of our writers including the Belgian in their XI. David de Gea, who’s enjoyed another spectacular season at Manchester United, also made it into five teams.

Next: The best player of all time on every Premier League team

Harry Kane got even more love, with seven of eight writers picking him in their team. The Englishman has 12 goals so far and has been the best player for Tottenham in what has been a somewhat disappointing season so far.

But the most popular choice was Mohamed Salah, the league’s top scorer halfway through his first season with Liverpool, who made all eight teams. The Egyptian has been superb, and unlike De Bruyne, perhaps faces less competition from his teammates for a place in these XIs.
