The New York Knicks will host the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden, first NBA game on Christmas Day this season. Amazingly, this game has real playoff implications. Heading into the weekend, the Knicks were 17-14 and in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The 76ers were 10th at 14-17.
Tipoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET on Dec. 25 at Madison Square Garden Arena in New York, NY. This game will be broadcast on ESPN so NBA League Pass won’t cover you (for this or any other Christmas Day games this year).

The Knicks had won five of their last six games heading into the weekend. With Tim Hardaway Jr. out until January, Michael Beasley has stepped up in a huge way, including a pair of 30-point games last week. Heading into the weekend, Kristaps Porzingis had missed two games with injury and then followed that up with an 0-for-11 stinker. The Knicks will need him to be his usual dominant self.
Heading into the weekend, the 76ers still weren’t sure if they would have Joel Embiid back for Christmas. He’s been battling a back injury and the 76ers lost the first three games he missed, following a tough loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Knicks and 76ers are two Eastern Conference teams on the rise. This game is a chance to celebrate youth and potential, and hopefully another matchup between two transcendent big men in Embiid and Porzingis.
