The Timberwolves seem set to end their long playoff drought, behind the ascendant play of Karl-Anthony Towns and the steady two-way brilliance of Jimmy Butler. But even with the playoffs on the horizon, this team has to feel frustrated that they haven’t been able to do more. The Lakers were hoping to build around their young core this season and start generating some momentum for the future. While Lonzo Ball’s shooting struggles have dominated the headlines, he’s been impressive in other areas. And, of course, all the hoopla around him has obscured Brandon Ingram’s growth and the fact that Kyle Kuzma has probable been the third-most productive rookie this season. This game is a great chance for the Lakers to make a statement about that comes next for this young team.
