Denzel Ward

Defensive Back, Ohio State

Two weeks ago, quarterback Aaron Rodgers made a triumphant return to the Green Bay Packers roster, as he was hoping to help his team make a late run to the playoffs. Well, the Packers lost his return, and in the process it ended their playoff hopes, which essentially ended Rodgers’ season. The team put Rodgers on injured reserve for the second time this season after the game, and looked very bad with Brett Hundley under center this past weekend.

There is a good possibility that the Packers could be drafting even higher in round one come April, but that will depend on if they can get any offense this Sunday. Last season, Rodgers led his team on a magical run towards the playoffs, and even made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game. It was there that his team was shredded by Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons, and they still need help in the secondary.

With their first round pick in April, the Packers should look to bring in a cornerback, and Denzel Ward is a fine player. Ward is just another in a long line of first round defensive backs that Ohio State continues to produce, as we have seen with Marshon Lattimore during his rookie season with the New Orleans Saints. The Packers need more than just one player to help out in the secondary, but Ward would be tough to pass up this late in round one.
